Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most when teams are evaluating how ReportOS actually works.
- How does the AI actually draft my report?
- It's grounded entirely in your real task activity for the period — status changes, completed items, and your own comments. It never invents accomplishments, numbers, or blockers that aren't in your data, and it's always shown to you for review, edit, and confirmation before it's submitted under your name.
- What if I don't want the AI writing my report?
- Every part of an AI draft is editable, and you can write a report manually if you'd rather. AI drafts and suggests; you always confirm and decide what actually gets submitted.
- What does "grounded" AI actually mean — can I trust the numbers?
- Every AI output that claims a fact about work status is traceable back to a real task, comment, or report in the system — never a hallucinated progress claim. If there isn't enough data to answer confidently, it says so instead of guessing.
- Can a manager or exec see data I'm not supposed to share?
- No. AI answers and roll-ups respect the same permission boundaries as the rest of the product — it's a lens on data a person could already see, never a backdoor into another team's information.
- Which industries is this built for?
- The core engine is industry-agnostic, with a template layer on top for field operations, sales, engineering/product, and general office work — each adjusts vocabulary and defaults (a "task" becomes a job, a deal, or a ticket) without changing how the underlying system works.
- Can one person hold more than one role?
- Yes — Individual, Manager, Executive, and Admin are roles a person can combine, like a manager who also reports up to their own manager. Permissions follow the role, not a fixed job title.
- Will I get buried in notifications?
- No — notifications are triaged, not just pushed as a firehose. Genuinely time-sensitive items surface immediately; everything routine gets batched into a digest instead of interrupting you.
- Does this replace tools like Jira, Linear, or Slack?
- ReportOS is the reporting and work-intelligence layer across whatever work your team already does — tasks, reports, requests, and history unified in one system, with AI as the connective tissue. It's built to be the single place reporting happens, not another specialized tool alongside everything else.
- Can I start solo and add my team later?
- Yes — you can start as a solo user or freelancer and convert to a full company workspace later without losing data, or start with a full team from day one.
